After the Kansas City Chiefs was defeated by the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night, it was reported that the Chiefs starting quarterback Matt Cassel hurt his knee and might be out for two to four weeks, meaning that he might miss the team’s season opener on September 13 at Baltimore.
However, no confirmation has come from the team. Head coach Todd Haley declined to discuss the status of Cassel Monday or comment on the report that the signal-caller sprained the medial collateral ligament of his left knee and would miss the season opener.
Cassel started at quarterback for the New England Patriots after Tom Brady was hurt in the season opener last season. He was traded to the Chiefs from the Patriots in February with a guaranteed 28 million-dollar contract. He made 19 pass plays in the Chiefs’ first three preseason games and was sacked four times.
