Vikings waived WR Glenn Holt Thursday

After the Minnesota Vikings drafted receiver Percy Harvin, wide receiver Glenn Holt became expendable and they finally decided to waive him yesterday.

The Vikings signed Holt after he left the Cincinnati Bengals and became a free agent in the offseason. He was brought in to compete for job on kick returning. However, Harvin’s joining reduced his value. The Vikings began to put their expectation on the rookie receiver, even though Holt is a four-year veteran and led the Bengals in kick return yardage each of the past three seasons.

Harvin was not the only reason for Vikings’ move. Both receivers Jaymar Johnson and Darius Reynaud have impressed the Vikings more than Holt, thus there was no chance for him to compete for a spot any more.
