Second-year pro Byrd had to leave Chargers

The San Diego Chargers eventually decided to get rid of last year’s seventh-round pick from LSU, wide receiver Demetrious Byrd, who spent his rookie season in Chargers jersey without playing any game because of the serious injuries he suffered in a horrific car crash prior to the draft.

It was rendered that Byrd will be unable to play football anymore, but the Chargers still drafted him.

"Despite the injuries, the Chargers selected him and generously extended him a contract for the season," the Chargers said in a statement.

However, a lot of people guess that Byrd was released possibly because of shenanigans on his Twitter account, including this comment:

"Hey twitt fam is it gay to like justin bieber? Cuz I’m not gay but I’m feelin dat baby sng dat shit rockin right now on my cd also."

Byrd refused to admit that he was cut because of his comments on twitter but because he was healthy enough to be released without any further financial obligations. Thanking Chargers general manager A.J. Smith, he added that he would go back to school to complete the 21 remaining credit hours for his degree requirements.

RB Westbrook was cut by Eagles

Following the San Diego Chargers releasing their nine-year veteran running back LaDainian Tomlinson, the Philadelphia Eagles had a similar move, cutting their eight-year veteran running back Brian Westbrook. Similarly, Eagles’ move is not at all surprising as it has been expected since the beginning of the offseason.

"Brian is one of the greatest Eagles of all time and he is even a better person and leader," Coach Andy Reid said on the team’s website. "In my mind, there has not been a more versatile running back that the NFL has seen. I had a conversation with Brian this morning to let him know. This is by far the most difficult part of this job. We wanted to make this move now in order to maximize Brian’s chances of landing with another NFL team."

Even back to last offseason there had been speculation that 2009 season would be Westbrook’s last one with the Eagles. While second-round draft pick of 2009, LeSean McCoy impressed people with his production, Westbrook was struggling with two concussions last season. Turning 31 and due a $7.5 million salary if he continues playing football in Eagles jersey, Westbrook is now not considered by the Eagles worth investing although he has rushed for 5,995 yards in eight seasons in Philadelphia and, caught 426 passes for 3,790 yards and scored 68 touchdowns rushing, receiving and on punt returns.

Recent changes in Bills players team

Released players: linebacker Blake Costanzo, defensive linemen John Faletoese and Gerald Washington, offensive lineman Joel Bell and defensive back Kyle Ward.

Signed players: veteran Pat Thomas, 2008 fifth-round draft pick Alvin Bowen and rookie Ashlee Palmer.

Injuried players: Backup linebacker John DiGiorgio and wide receiver James Hardy will recover from knee injuries and open training camp on July 25.

Running back Marshawn Lynch had a swollen foot, althogh test showed that nothing was broken, he just skipped the three days of minicamp.

Wide receiver CJ Hawthorne had surgery on his left foot, but he will be ready by the time of training camp starts.

Backup offensive lineman Nick Hennessey hurt his right leg during practice and will not be able to participate in training camp.
