Titans QB Young earned his starting job for next season

The Tennessee Titans Coach Jeff Fisher announced Sunday that quarterback Vince Young will continue to be the team’s starting quarterback for next season, hours after the quarterback led the Titans to a victory for the 26th time as a starter since he put on Titans jersey in 2006.

"Vince will return as our starter next year,” Fisher told reporters. "I think the 8-2 [record as a starter this season] speaks for itself. He is 26-13 as a starter now and he came back this year after the bye and got under center and was a different quarterback, a different person.”

Sunday’s victory over the Seattle Seahawks gave the Titans a good ending of 2009 season, and proved Fisher’s correctness to change the starter from Kerry Collins to Young. Or, we should send the honor to Titans fans and owner, who played very important role in forcing the coach to make the change while Fisher was insisting that Collins could give the team better chance to win even after he led the team to a 0-6 start. The change brought obvious improvement quickly to the team as Young led the team to its first win of the season in his first start and added another four consecutive wins as well as three wins of the last five games.

Claiming the starting job for next season, Young is set to receiver $4.25 million bonus in March on top of his $7.5 million base salary. And if Collis comes back as the Coach expects to be Young’s backup, he will earn $5.5 million.
