Rams OT Smith practiced but unlikely plays Sunday

The St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Jason Smith returned to practice after missing one month because of a concussion, but Coach Steve Spagnuolo said it is unlikely for the tackle to put on his Rams jersey and play this Sunday’s season finale as the team wants to be careful with the injury.

Spagnuolo said Smith was cleared by medical personnel after a light workout Tuesday and the team just wanted to get him back on the field. And Smith said he was able to participate in the whole practice with limited activity and hoped it would increase a little bit in next day of practice.

The team exercised caution during Smith’s absence, especially after he became ill on the sideline near the end of a game against the Seahawks the week after he was injured. Smith was taken to a hospital for observation and released later that night.
