F Tyrus Thomas to leave Bulls?

Still rehabbing a broken forearm, forward Tyrus Thomas may get prepared for playing in another team's NBA jersey for next season as the Chicago Bulls have had discussions with several teams about shopping of the player.

The most likely destination is New York as the most serious discussion was the one between Bulls’ general manager Gar Forman and Knicks president Donnie Walsh, who has resisted parting with forward Al Harrington. And there have been reports saying that the Bulls would like to offer a package of Thomas and Jerome James to acquire Harrington from the Knicks.

“Nothing is imminent, but both sides would like to figure out a way to do this,” one league executive briefed on the talks told Yahoo! Sports.

For the Bulls, Harrington’s ability to score will improve the team as well and his $10.2 million expiring contract would help the Bulls to shed more salary-cap space for the summer of 2010 by eliminating Thomas’ approximate $13 million cap hold. As for the Knicks, 6-foot-9 forward Thomas will be an intriguing fit for New York with his nimbleness and athleticism.
