Bengals WR Ochocinco has to play $30K for another stunt

Just one month after he was fined $20K for pretending to bribe an official, the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has to pay another $30K for his latest stunt during last Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

Ochocinco, known as Chad Johnson before the receiver legally changed his name last year, put on a gray poncho and black sombrero after catching a TD pass in Bengals’ 23-13 win over the Lions last Sunday. By doing so he is suppose to have violated at least one of the league’s prohibitions: players are now allowed to take items onto the field that are not a part of their uniform.

On his Twitter account, Ochocinco posted Tuesday: “Dear NFL League Office … being great means having fun n celebrating. I’ve written a letter of apology to yall.”

The last time he paid the fine of $20K after Bengals’ 17-7 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 8. While one of his catches was being reviewed the receiver held a dollar bill in his right hand at his side but didn’t give it to the official, and such behavior was considered by the league to belonging to abusive, threatening or insulting language or gestures toward officials.

He changed his name from Johnson to Ochocinco because the latter is a Spanish word meaning the number on his NFL jersey: 85.
