Owen Daniels will not play the remaining season for the Houston Texans. Instead, he will have a surgery to repair his torn knee ligament and need a lot of time to rehabilitate.
Daniels injured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Houston’s second possession in Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills when he caught his foot in the turf. According to Coach Gary Kubiak, the defensive end will have surgery in two weeks after swelling in the knee has gone down.
Losing Daniels is a big blow to the team, as Kubiak said. Indeed, the fourth-year player in Texans jersey has 40 receptions for 519 yards and a team-leading five touchdowns this season. I doubt if Joel Dreessen would be able to match him as replacement in this Sunday’s game against the unbeaten Indianapolis Colts.
But with Daniels’ leaving, the Texans have few choices. If not Dreessen, they only have rookie Anthony Hill to alternate. The team obviously would not choose Hill as he has missed all games this season with flu issue. So, actually, Dreessen was the only choice unless the Texans find options out of the team.
