Dolphins prepared to start season without LB Roth

Miami Dolphins linebacker Matt Roth has skipped practices since the training camp started on Aug. 2 because of a groin injury, but the team is prepared for starting the regular season without him.

“You know, 27, 28 practices have gone by,” Sparano said Thursday. “Obviously you’re hoping on one hand, but from the other standpoint, I have to keep going on. I don’t know when this thing’s going to get right, so I have to go on like it isn’t going to get right at this time, and try to prepare the team accordingly.”

Roth had his best season last year, but the injured groin has limited him to individual conditioning drills. So the team just got to find a replacement. Their first choice was Jason Taylor who spent one season with the Washington Redskins last year and put on miami dolphins jersey this year. However, his performance had been very disappointing. Then it was Joey Porter who moved into to Roth’s spot as starting outside linebacker after Taylor left for a family illness.
